Circa 1780
An outstanding carved limewood and giltwood Royal Coat of Arms. Finely carved acanthus leaves surround the lion and the unicorn which flank a crown and an oval shield. The motto in French, of English monarchs, Dieu et mon Driot (God and my Right) the Order’s motto Honi soit qui mal y pense (shame on him who thinks evil).
Made during the reign of King George III

Minor breaks in foliage. Old woodworm holes.
