Set of five 18th century octagonal Chinese ceramic plate warmers, the correct name is 'chafing dishes'. Exported from the port of Canton. Each having a hand painted design in blue and white: the centre of each plate has willow tree beside a river with a single boat, pair of birds flying over pavilions. Made in Nanking for the European export market. The West is knows this design as Willow pattern. None of the five dishes has restoration, chips or cracks, the condition is excellent circa 1770
