Ivory panel
Late 16th early 17th century ivory panel in a tortoiseshell and ebony frame;
Depicting Mercury in flight and a host of people sitting on clouds; on the right side of the engraved picture is a large gathering of peolpe possibly asending onto a cloud. The left side is a peninsula- area of land with buildings, and boats in the sea.
