A rare George III Irish mahogany hall seat, with carved top rail above a guilloche freize. Solid seat, raised on four sabre legs.
Literature
This example has a close resemblance to James Wyatt's design for the Castle Coole Suite of hall benches in Co. Farmanagh. A very similar example decorates the front cover of James Peill and the Knight of Glin book 'Irish Furniture'.
