BlogPost Christmas Open Weekend - Posted on Tuesday 6 December 2011
Our annual Christmas Open Weekend has just taken place which was a huge success. An exhausting two days as well as the build up to it, but made all the more worth while by all the visitors that passed through our door, almost 450! A remarkable feat considering the doom and gloom one constantly hears about on the television and radio! Perhaps many of them wanted to be cheered up by being amongst such beautiful pieces, many of which I am pleased to report did sell. We now attempt to catch up with our office work and try to prepare for our own family festivities. We wish all our clients, friends and colleagues a very Happy Christmas and a Prosperous New Year.
The Lapada Art & Antiques Fair - Posted on Friday 23 September 2011
We are now more than half way through this very prestigious and stunning looking fair and so I thought I ought to write something about it. Having got off to a very good start we are pleased to report that we have been able to keep the momentum going, and have been able to create much more business than we had anticipated. The fair really does look extremely smart and the catering is excellent. This year "Rhubarb" are the chosen company and I can certainly recommend the restaurant. We had a superb meal on Wednesday evening. Delicious!! The new layout this year has been very favourably received by the visitors and with an excellent list of national and European dealers it really is worth a visit. The fair runs until Sunday 25th closing at 5pm. Please go to http://www.lapadalondon.com/ for further information and hopefully we will see you there!
The Lapada Abt - Posted on Friday 23 September 2011Charity Football Match - Posted on Saturday 3 September 2011
Yesterday Lennox took part in the annual Charity Football Match at The Bank of England Sports Ground, Roehampton. As usual it was Dealers V Auctioneers and as always seems to be the case on this particular Friday in the year, the sun shone down gloriously. Infact a little too hot for the players but wonderful for us spectators! This year it was the Auctioneers turn to win by one goal! At the end of the match the result was a 3 all draw, so onto a penalty shoot out in true 'England' tradition! Unfortunately our goalie let one slip in, so making the score 4-3. A well deserved win though and an amazing £13,000 was raised for The Haven www.thehaven.org.uk Thank goodness Lennox managed to score in the shoot out, he hasn't missed scoring in all the nine years we have been attending, and he is determined not to let that slip! This event was started by Lennox and, although we have not been on the organising side of things for the past 3 years, next year maybe a little different. To mark its 10th anniversary the committee headed by Ed Flaxman Johnson of www.flaxmanfinejewellery.com are thinking of hosting something a little larger. No doubt we may be tempted to get involved, so watch this space for future updates. The whole event is a great opprtunity for the many aspects of the antiques business to get together and socialise, and by raising money at the same time makes it a very worthwhile occasion. The Bank of England Sports Ground is a wonderful venue www.bankofenglandsportscentre.co.uk and in the evening a delicious BBQ is served. Addison Gelpy of www.criterionauctioneers.com hosts a highly entertaining auction and the evening is rounded of with an excellent raffle. Look out for the dates next year, players and spectators alike are most welcome. Our new showroom - Posted on Thursday 14 July 2011
For those of you who visited our Spring Open Weekend you will have seen our newly refurbished showroom. Well over due for a face lift but worth waiting for. We are delighted with the finnished result and makes a perfect showcase for antique and contemporary works of art. During the weekend we exhibited the work of Tom Samuel, a craftsman in the truest sense of the word. His objects of treen caused such interest that we have decided to stock more of his work. Please visit our contemporary page in our Current Stock section where you can view his beautiful pieces.
