The Lapada Art & Antiques Fair - Posted on Friday 23 September 2011

We are now more than half way through this very prestigious and stunning looking fair and so I thought I ought to write something about it. Having got off to a very good start we are pleased to report that we have been able to keep the momentum going, and have been able to create much more business than we had anticipated.

The fair really does look extremely smart and the catering is excellent. This year "Rhubarb" are the chosen company and I can certainly recommend the restaurant. We had a superb meal on Wednesday evening. Delicious!!

The new layout this year has been very favourably received by the visitors and with an excellent list of national and European dealers it really is worth a visit.

The fair runs until Sunday 25th closing at 5pm.

Please go to http://www.lapadalondon.com/ for further information and hopefully we will see you there!

Charity Football Match - Posted on Saturday 3 September 2011

Yesterday Lennox took part in the annual Charity Football Match at The Bank of England Sports Ground, Roehampton. As usual it was Dealers V Auctioneers and as always seems to be the case on this particular Friday in the year, the sun shone down gloriously. Infact a little too hot for the players but wonderful for us spectators!

This year it was the Auctioneers turn to win by one goal! At the end of the match the result was a 3 all draw, so onto a penalty shoot out in true 'England' tradition! Unfortunately our goalie let one slip in, so making the score 4-3. A well deserved win though and an amazing £13,000 was raised for The Haven www.thehaven.org.uk  Thank goodness Lennox managed to score in the shoot out, he hasn't missed scoring in all the nine years we have been attending, and he is determined not to let that slip!

This event was started by Lennox and, although we have not been on the organising side of things for the past 3 years, next year maybe a little different. To mark its 10th anniversary the committee headed by Ed Flaxman Johnson of www.flaxmanfinejewellery.com are thinking of hosting something a little larger. No doubt we may be tempted to get involved, so watch this space for future updates.

The whole event is a great opprtunity for the many aspects of the antiques business to get together and socialise, and by raising money at the same time makes it a very worthwhile occasion.

The Bank of England Sports Ground is a wonderful venue www.bankofenglandsportscentre.co.uk and in the evening a delicious BBQ is served.  Addison Gelpy of  www.criterionauctioneers.com  hosts a highly entertaining auction and the evening is rounded of with an excellent raffle.

Look out for the dates next year,  players and spectators alike are most welcome.
