Early 19th century red papier mache tray

Early 19th century red papier mache tray
Circa 1810
A large early 19th century scarlet red ground and gilt decorated papier mache tray, octagonal in shape. This fine example is un-marked on the reverse but it is undoubtedly from Henry Clay's workshops. The high flared shaped sides and fine bronze power and gilt decoration is the quality one would expect from Henry Clay.
