George III Tripod Based Table

George III Tripod Based Table
Circa 1765
Chippendale tripod-based tables have proved to be the most collectable and coveted items of 18th century English mahogany furniture. This superb and extremely rare example having a delicate and expertly carved edge on a circular one-piece tilt top, is no exception. The table has the original bird cage support to the underside of the top. The overwhelming faded colour and patination make this a very special and highly collectable piece of Georgian furniture. From my many years of dealing in fine furniture, this must prove to be one of the best early Georgian tables I have owned to date. The three cabriole legs terminating with paw feet suggesting an Irish influence. English circa 1765
