£2,650.00
A collection of six 17th and 18th century silver bodkins/ hair-pins. Three have the cup spatula and all of the collection are of tapering form.
One is plain having no engraved decoration, which may well be the earliest in the collection?
Unmarked bodkins are likely to be provincial in origin. They were a standard part of the stock-in-trade of itinerant silversmiths that would travel from one town fair to another to sell small pieces of silver to the locals.
£2,650 for the collection of six. some have minor distortions.
