Pair 18th Century D-Shaped Boughpots
Circa 1790
A rare pair of 18th century harewood veneered demi-lune boughpots. Each has a central panel painted classical scene in grisaille, shades of greys, summer flowers and sprigs of wheat in bright naturalist colours.
These articles were used in the summer months to decorate the interior, especially the fireplace or the dining table when they can be placed back to back creating a circle of flowers. Both pots have removable zinc liners.
